I wanted to be part of something innovative and cutting edge, so when I heard about EuroAcademy, it was an easy choice. The selection process was efficient and professional: after submitting my online application, I was invited to a casual interview. EuroAcademy far exceeded my expectations. Not only did it provide
me with an opportunity to learn from some of Europe’s top business leaders,
but I also found myself in the company of some of the brightest, most passionate graduate students on the continent. EuroAcademy allowed me to participate
in a unique weekend of learning, having fun and sailing.

On the basis of its reputation alone, McKinsey and Company was a place where
I wanted to work. But I did not really know much about the firm, so I saw EuroAcademy as a chance to meet McKinsey representatives and find out whether
I would fit into the company culture. Moreover, I was eager to meet the guest speakers and the 120 students from all over Europe. The large number of applicants was a challenge that motivated me throughout the selection process. I knew that
the more applicants there were, the better I would have to perform. However,
I was “just myself” at the interview, which reinforced my feeling of success when
I was accepted. EuroAcademy is a forum where people can exchange ideas. The high standing of both
the guest speakers and McKinsey’s representatives allow students to get the best information
from
the top people. At the same time, the variety of students' backgrounds is a virtually limitless
source of bright ideas and topics for conversation.
Markéta Zichová
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Social Science, Institute of Economic Studies
4th year M.A. student
I was assured by looking at the EuroAcademy schedule that I would not only gain from the program personally but might also enrich the experience of others
with my viewpoints on issues relevant to Europe’s future. McKinsey’s presence, which provided quality control, was the icing on the cake for me. I wanted to attend. During the interview I appreciated the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. EuroAcademy was very well prepared and organized, instilling in its participants
a passion to accomplish whatever they choose to do. This positive motivational atmosphere was fostered by interesting, exceptionally intelligent students having the chance to meet
world-renowned speakers and McKinsey consultants.

When I searched the Web for information on McKinsey-organized EuroAcademy,
I found it interesting: an opportunity to meet a lot of smart people, and to discuss
a wide range of topics and themes with them. Such events are always attractive.
Nor should I neglect to mention that I had always wanted to try sailing. And what better place could I find than southern Greece in early October? I could not hesitate. So I sent my CV and cover letter, and after a time received an email announcing my pre-selection. Then we arranged a phone interview, which was actually just
a pleasant chat with a McKinsey consultant, and about a week later I went through the screening process.
I deeply enjoyed EuroAcademy 2005; it was an amazing experience, far exceeding
my expectations.
I met and
spoke with a variety of students from all over Europe, as well as with McKinsey people
from various offices. Besides that, there were excellent guest speakers — such as Jean-Claude
Trichet, Pat Cox, and others from a range of industries — all of whom helped make the event
compelling and positive. Last but not least, we had a lot of fun during those four days, especially
at the parties and on sailing day. EuroAcademy was a convenient way to become acquainted
with McKinsey — to get to know the way they work and the people who work there.
